Seven people travelling in a matatu to Voi died in a grisly accident after the vehicle they were in came head on collision with a truck in Mariakani area near Mombasa town on Saturday morning February 13, 2016.
Five others including the matatu conductor sustained injuries of varying degrees.
According to Kaloleni acting OCPD Patrick Ngeiywa, the driver of the lorry belonging to Aceller Logistics fled the scene of the 9am accident.
The truck was headed in the opposite direction towards Mombasa, when it reportedly lost control and rammed into the matatu, killing five people on the spot.
